PeasantsPeasants lived on the manor in the village. They ate food like corn, cabbage, grain, bread, salted meat, ale, cider or any meat they had killed. Peasants wore blouses, overcoats, mantles, shoes, tunics, trousers and belts, they rarely wore gloves if they did it was for practical uses.
There were two main types of peasant jobs they were farmers and working in a castle. A peasant who worked as a farmer was usually quite strong due to the hard work. Their tasks included ploughing, harvesting, reaping, sowing, binding, thatching, haymaking, threshing and hedging. Their tools were made out of wood, leather and horns. Many of the peasants who worked in a castle were women. They provided food, cooked, cleaned, and waited on the lord. Peasants also cleaned the stables, groomed the horses and fed them. |
