BaronsA baron was also known as the lord of the manor. They were leased land by the king, which a baron could use for whatever he wished, they usually gave it to their knights. A baron served the royal council, they supplied money, taxes, and knights to the king for the military. They were just below the King in the power structure. Barons had their own justice system, set their own taxes and minted their own money. When the king wanted to travel, the baron would organise food and a place for the king and anyone traveling with him to stay.
