Eating like a lord vs peasant
Lords ate white bread and peasants ate barley and rye. If the peasants had an impoverished harvest, they would eat beans, peas and acorn bread. Peasants weren’t even allowed to bake bread in their own houses. They had to pay to use their lord’s oven. Pigs were peasants main source of meat and they ate some mutton which is from sheep. The lords ate animals such as deer, hares, rabbits and boar. Peasants drank dirty river water and milk which never lasted long. They also drank ale made of barley but this was difficult and took a long to brew.
